Emirates, DHA began digitally verifying COVID-19 documents for UAE-based travelers

Emirates and the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) have started to introduce complete automated verification of COVID-19 medical records that are related to testing and vaccination for UAE-based travelers.

The merger arrives just under two months after Emirates and the Dubai Health Authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding, and it is a first-of-its-kind partnership between an airline company and a government health department.

As a result of the merger, Dubai became one of the first cities in the world to introduce complete automated authentication of traveler medical history related to COVID-19 testing and vaccination. Passengers who have had a PCR test in Dubai will be allowed to check-in without showing their physical COVID-19 PCR test report. Passengers who have obtained their COVID-19 vaccine at a DHA health center in Dubai will also have their records synchronized during the flight check-in, along with their COVID-19 PCR test reports.

Passengers departing from Dubai International Airport will benefit from safer and quicker processing periods. For this updated process appreciation goes to the latest simplified authentication processes for passengers amid this challenging situation. The details would then be cross-referenced with the destination's entry conditions.

Emirates can only process that information that is directly applicable to the passenger’s destination's COVID-19 entry criteria. After check-in procedures are completed, data pertaining to COVID-19 medical records of the passengers will be automatically deleted from Emirates databases.
