Mohammed reveals a proposal to transform Dubai into global creative economy capital

His Majesty, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, launched a programme on Saturday to transform Dubai into a global creative economy capital in the world.

Dubai will increase the number of creative companies from 8,000 to 15,000 in the next five years. It will also increase the number of creative professionals from 70,000 to 150,000.

The aim of the programme is to boost the creative economy's GDP contribution from 2.6 % to 5%.

"New artistic zones in content, architecture and the arts will be launched as part of the initiative. Our economy, way of life, and future all depend on innovation "Sheikh Mohammed said.

Sheikh Mohammed revealed the new program's launch on Twitter.

“We launched a strategic plan to make Dubai a global creative economy capital in the world. Over the next five years, we want to increase the number of creative firms in Dubai from 8,000 to 15,000, and the number of creative professionals from 70,000 to 150,000,” Sheikh Mohammed tweeted.

“Under the new initiative, we expect to raise the creative economy's contribution to GDP from 2.6 % to 5%, as well as create new creative zones in content, design, and the arts. “Innovation is a critical component of our economy, in our way of life, and future,” he wrote on Twitter.
