Saudi Arabia launches banknote of SR200

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the Central Bank of Saudi Arabia announced the launch of an SR200 banknote to mark the fifth year after the announcement of the Kingdom's Vision 2030. (SPA).

The new note entered circulation on Sunday, according to the central bank (April 25). This topic is dependent on Article No. (4) of Saudi Monetary Law, as promulgated by Royal Decree No (6). In this regard, the Saudi Central Bank explained that the two hundred Saudi riyal banknote, along with other new banknotes in all denominations, will be placed into circulation as authorized legal tender by Sunday.

According to the Central Bank, the new Two Hundred denomination was printed in compliance with the most recent banknote printing requirements. The current denomination is distinguished by a variety of technical standards, high-quality protective features, a distinctive look, and appealing colors that emphasize the style of this denomination. It is worth noting that the new banknote is grey in color, with an image of the founder King Abdul Aziz on the front, the emblem of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 in 3D form, the Saudi Central Bank name, and the banknote value in Arabic alphanumeric.

The background of the banknote features an illustration of Riyadh's "Qasr Al Hukm," the Saudi Central Bank's name, and the banknote value in English numbers and letters. The Saudi central bank has approved a loan deferral scheme until the end of the first quarter of next year to assist small enterprises dealing with the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the monetary authority, the program has affected over SAR77 billion ($20.5 billion) in loans, and the expansion was made to help boost economic development. The steps declared in March as one of the kingdom’s first responses to the financial costs of the health emergency, have already been extended and are set to expire in December.
