Al Fujairah is a city in the United Arab Emirates. Patients those who are suffering from appendicitis or gallbladder complications can be treated by a surgery established at Dibba Al Fujairah Hospital that needs no significant abdominal slits like previous times.

Dr. Osman Ahmad Al Dabbagh, specialist laparoscopic surgeon and head of the Surgical Department at Dibba Al Fujairah Hospital, leads a team that conducts laparoscopy. It involves inserting a thin fiber-optic instrument into the affected area. One of the major benefits, according to Dr. Al Dabbagh, is that patients feel more relaxed, less anxious when having such surgery.

"The laparoscopic technique makes removing an inflamed appendix or gallbladder easier and quicker. It enables surgeons to remove injured organs without making a large cut in the patient's abdomen "According to Dr. Al Dabbagh.

This laparoscopic technology can also be used in chest and head procedures. It can also be used in abdominal surgery, namely colon inflammation and appendicitis.

He claimed that more than 30 successful surgeries that used the laparoscopic procedure to remove infected gallbladders (cholecystectomy) had already been performed at Dibba Al Fujairah Hospital in the previous few months.

"In the last six years, we have performed over 600 appendix procedures using the old method of making cuts in the abdomen. Due to the growing number of patients we see every day, we believe in conducting a significant number of these surgeries using the new laparoscopic technique”.  Dr. Al Dabbagh shared his views.
