New York's Fashion Week will be back in-person shows in September

The Council of Fashion Designers of America declared on Monday that New York Fashion Week would restart in-person runway shows in September, following the two versions that were primarily hosted virtually previously due to the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the CFDA, the schedule for events on September 8-12 is conditional basing on local restrictions, which is related to the current health crisis, and some designers can choose to keep their presentations online as well.

Only a few renowned designers, such as Christian Siriano and Rebecca Minkoff, planned to exhibit their designs in person during the past two Fashion Weeks, which were held in February and September, respectively.

To prevent coronavirus-related hazards, the CFDA promoted the other fashion shows online.

"We are looking forward to a successful fashion season that presents the best of American fashion in both physical and digital presentation formats," CFDA CEO Steven Kolb said, citing New York's ongoing vaccination campaign as motivation for all.

On September 13, Fashion Week will come to a close with the Met Gala, which is a star-studded bonus that coincides with the Costume Institute's show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The lavish affair, which takes place on the first Monday in May every year, will be held on a much smaller scale in September 2021, followed by another ball the following season.
