The Danish Government has announced its formal involvement in Expo 2020 Dubai, working alongside the Danish Business Council throughout the six-month global gathering.

At the close of last week's International Participants Meeting (IPM) in Dubai, Reem Bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director-General of Expo 2020, got confirmation of the country's participation from Danish Ambassador Franz-Michael Mellbin, who has been designated Commissioner General for Denmark at Expo 2020.

During a six-month global gathering that will receive more than 190 nations and millions of tourists from across the world, the Denmark Pavilion will highlight the country's export and investment capabilities and the sturdiness of its connection with the UAE.

Having less than five months before the next World Expo officially opens, businesses and organizations from throughout Denmark are being encouraged to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to express the best of what Denmark has to provide with the rest of the world, as Expo 2020 commits to connecting people, communities, and nations together to build bridges, inspire action, and provide real-life solutions to real-world problems. Approximately 1,000 Danish SMEs are scheduled to take part.

The requirement for nations from all parts of the world to unite with a common purpose to build a stronger, greener, safer planet has never been stronger, and we are delighted to have the Danish Government on board, among our existing partners from the Danish Business Council,” said Mohammed Al Shehhi, Director for European Affairs at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Our nations share a common history, a passion of culture, and strong commercial ties, which Denmark would be ready to present to the world, and their involvement will enhance the experience of millions of Expo 2020 visitors.”

Ambassador Franz-Michael Mellbin remarked after passing over Denmark's formal letter of participation, "Denmark is excited to join in Expo 2020, which strives to rethink how the Expo idea may be utilized to gather together individuals, businesses, and governments from over 190 nations in an innovative way to solve global issues and harvest global possibilities." As the global economy gradually reopens, Danish enterprises are eager to join and share their skills, innovations, and vision for a greener, safer, and healthier future with the rest of the world. With its global view and location at the crossroads of Africa, Asia, and Europe, the UAE is an ideal meeting point for the convention.

“We are excited to greet the Danish Government and will be thrilled to showcase Denmark in the UAE at Expo 2020 Dubai - a key platform to support the global economy as it recovers from the impacts of the pandemic and an outstanding chance to demonstrate the world the numerous economic prospects our nation seems to offer,” said Jens Lund, President of the Danish Business Council. We are placing the last touches on our pavilion and are excited to collaborate with our country to show the finest of what Denmark has to offer with visitors from all around the world when Expo opens on October 1st.”

The Danish Pavilion, which is situated in the Mobility District, has an 18-meter-tall observation deck. The pavilion superstructure is already finished, and the entire fit-out is scheduled to be finished by the end of July. Along with Rockwool and Ege, it will house other high-profile Danish enterprises, including globally-recognized mobility experts such as DSV and Maersk.

Expo 2020 will feature a world-class business curriculum aimed to create new markets and possibilities, enabling companies and communities to form new alliances and obtain investments that will promote international collaboration and revitalize economies. Three Global Business Forums would be held, and topical business forums, national business briefings, roundtable sessions, and opportunities for networking.

First time in World Expo history, each participating country would have its pavilion, with countries gathered under Expo 2020s three sub-themes of Opportunity, Mobility, and Sustainability - issues deemed critical to constructing a better future for all.

Expo 2020 Dubai, the first World Expo to be hosted in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA) area, will take place from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022, encouraging visitors from all over the world to participate in the creation of a new world by exploring life-changing technologies which will have a profound, beneficial influence on both people and the earth.

The remarkable face-to-face meeting of more than 370 delegates right before the start of Expo 2020 in October demonstrates that the next World Expo is destined to become one of Dubai's greatest achievements - a worldwide event that will reflect the emirate's confidence, safety, and friendliness to all visitors, and further promote its burgeoning leisure and business tourist industries.
