The Executive Council of Dubai suggested the establishment of the Emirati Human Resources Development Council on Wednesday, intending to increase strategic career prospects for Emirati youth and empower their capabilities.

Also, the Executive Council authorized a Dh400 million blueprint for the Dubai Bicycle-Friendly City Strategy 2025, which comprises 18 initiatives.

The Emirati Human Resources Development Council was established to support Dubai's efforts to qualify, train, hire and maintain local labor. The new council is tasked with improving coordination between the government and private sectors to implement strategies and recommendations to increase Emirati jobs in the private sector.

His Highness, said Sheikh Hamdan Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has always prioritized investing in Emirati human resources and developing national potential. Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the importance of creating a consistent strategic strategy and having all of the services required to enable and prepare regional human resources to successfully contribute to the growth of a sustainable knowledge-based economy in Dubai. He acknowledged that achieving these goals would require greater cooperation with the private industry.

"His Majesty Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid is a true believer in the importance of human resource growth in advancing Dubai's sustainable development trajectory and shaping the emirate's future. Encouraging and cultivating indigenous talent would add to the leadership's efforts to expand Dubai's position as a central player in shaping the world's future. This new policy would provide new opportunities for young people to engage in national growth while also making the private sector more appealing to Emiratis "According to Sheikh Hamdan.

"Growing opportunities for Emiratis to play strategic positions in key areas can help facilitate their expertise and leadership growth. The Dubai Government is revamping a variety of initiatives directed at boosting Emirati strengths. These include new educational initiatives focused on providing Emirati youth with the skills they need to succeed in a rapidly evolving global world "He continued.

To facilitate the council's initiatives, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) will create a database of Emirati students and collaborate with the Dubai Government Human Resources Department and other government agencies to create internationally validated education opportunities that will assist Emiratis in developing the qualifications needed to excel in the future job market.

The Executive Council established a task force comprised of different government bodies to formulate the rules and regulations required to enforce the Dubai Bicycle-Friendly City Strategy 2025. So far, Dubai has installed a total of 463km of bicycle tracks to meet the goal of 13.6km of bicycle tracks for every 100,000 residents. The Dubai Bicycle-Friendly City Strategy 2025 comprises 18 major projects that will cost Dh400 million to execute. The new Strategy also focuses on building a 668-kilometer bicycle track network in the emirate and develops the legislation needed to make Dubai the most bicycle-friendly city on the planet.

Any highways will be revamped to have cycling paths as part of an ambitious capital improvement initiative. Furthermore, bicycle-related facilities will be made open to the general public. The Strategy also aims to encourage new cycling operators and will provide bicycle parking areas.
