His Majesty Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai presided over a meeting of the Council of Ministers on Expo 2020 Dubai preparations, at Al-Watan Palace.

“Today I presided in a conference of the Council of Ministers at Al-Watan Palace,” Sheikh Mohammed wrote on Twitter. We checked our plans for the biggest event our country will stage in 2021 at the start of the year. It took ten years to build 230,000 staff, 190 countries to participate and 170 days to deploy. We are prepared to welcome the entire world to Expo Dubai 2020.

“The progress of the Expo following the COVID pandemic is a victory for the environment and a source of hope for the global economic and cultural recovery. We directed all federal ministries to take the lead during the Expo in an attempt to broaden the scope of international cooperation and contribute to the development of the next global agenda on a variety of issues.”

“We have embraced the national talent strategy, whereby we aim to put the UAE among the top three in the world in attracting minds and having the best foreign functionaries to help the project development,” Sheikh Mohammed continued.

“We have introduced a new strategy to grow Emirati exports and increase the number of national products inside them to cross 50% of our exports by establishing channels and signing deals with a group of strategic economies around the globe,” he added.

“We agreed on a set of tax measures to make it easier for sellers and to lessen the risks on the business community in response to legislative amendments in the insolvency law for individuals to take into account the effect of existing conditions on bankrupt persons and the UAE government would adapt accordingly and keep up with all circumstantial adjustments,” Sheikh Mohammed added.
