The Fashion Commission has declared the completion of its sector growth plan following the Ministry of Culture's Cultural Vision.
The Fashion Commission will operate to enforce the strategies and projects outlined to strengthen the Saudi fashion industry's national brand and to represent designers, customers, and creativity in all sectors.
The Fashion Commission's approach is based on an overview of the existing fashion industry which provides measuring performance comparisons to expand and progress the sector.
Several supporting factors were identified because of the report, including research and innovation; product design; production and supply chain; retail and distribution, communication and marketing, and product life management.
The Commission's analysis was backed by perspectives from the Saudi fashion community, to accelerate the sector's development, such as developing rigorous educational and training systems to produce work-ready professionals, creating channels to market locally developed goods, and making plans between designers, investors, and beneficiaries.
Other than boosting the sector's productivity in manufacturing highly produced goods, offering product production assistance, and ensuring Saudi Arabia's rich heritage is expressed in its fashion.
The Fashion Commission's approach is driven by four principles:
1. Set the best ambition for the industry around each level in the value chain;
2. Plan in phases to align short-term demands, mid-term priorities, and long-term ambitions;
3. Provide stakeholders with a short-term perspective to resolve today's problems and deliver material outcomes in 12 months;
4. Strategically sequence overall strategies to lead to Vision 2030 progress.
The Commission's Vision is clear: "To transform the Kingdom's Fashion Industry through Culture, magnifying Saudi Heritage and Identity while adapting to global requirements and influencing the country's economy."
Its mission is to "allow the growth of a vibrant Saudi fashion industry that is sustainable and embracing, completely integrated throughout the value chain, and capitalizes on local talent, insights, and proficiencies."
On the Fashion Commission's goals, CEO Burak Cakmak said, "The plan was created to guarantee we are building the right infrastructure to expand the industry." The Kingdom should serve as a shining example as to how to construct a country's creative, affordable, locally, and culturally appropriate fashion ecosystem.
“By collaborating with visionaries around the value chain and bringing education, market growth, entrepreneurship, and retailing experiences to the region, Saudi (Arabia) will be able to turn small companies to meet the highest quality in their operations and branding, to be recognized worldwide.”
