The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai arranged an open number plate bidding on Saturday, which raised Dhs38 million for the 100 Million Meals campaign.

Through a numbers charity fundraiser today, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) raised Dhs 50,450,000 for the ‘100 Million Meals' program. Dhs 48,500,000 was raised through the sale of single- and double-digit car plates and exclusive telephone numbers, and Dhs 1,950,000 was raised through direct contributions from attendees.

The AA9 number plate was sold by the civic body for Dhs38 million. Dhs2.4 million was paid for the number E 51. Etisalat, the UAE's largest telecommunications firm, sold the number 0569999999 for Dhs3 million.

The proprietor of the number plate AA 9, who purchased it at bidding for Dhs38 million dirhams to fund the initiative, thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and declined to reveal his identity, honoring the importance of philanthropy.

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Tolerance Award, contributed Dhs1 million to the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) "100 Million Meals" program, which aims to provide nutritional assistance in 30 countries throughout the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Europe, and South America during the Holy Month of Ramadan and beyond.

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Tolerance Award contribution adds 1 million meals to the huge contributions raised by the initiative so far, following the overwhelming response from philanthropists in the UAE and abroad, including individuals, businesses, and the public and private institutions, businessmen, and other involved industries.

The campaign's organizer, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), is partnering with the UN World Food Programme, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment, Food Banking Regional Network, and local humanitarian organization in beneficiary countries to deliver food packages to reach as many beneficiaries as possible.

"The donation of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Tolerance Award to endorse the campaign with 1 million meals of tolerance stems from the priorities of the award, introduced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to reinforce the essence of tolerance, particularly as the campaign coincides with the Holy Month of Ramadan," said Dr. Hamad Al Shaibani, Managing Director of the International Institute for Tolerance, which also constitutes a school of spirituality in which worshipers embrace God Almighty by various acts of worship, such as fasting, praying, charity, feeding the needy, and connecting with kinship bonds, as an attempt to ascend above and transcend differences, deny divides, and implement forgiveness.

This is the month of tolerance, love, and transcendence above all disputes, and Islam came to create society's foundations on the most respectable morals and noble virtues, such as forgiveness and pardons for offenses and hurt.

The ‘100 Million Meals' initiative raised a staggering Dhs100 million from 185,000 donors in just 10 days, completing its goal of providing food relief to needy people in 30 countries.
