Business & Finance Club - Manama : Construction of a major project linking Manama to the northern island of Muharraq has begun in Bahrain.

It will include tunnels, flyovers and the construction of Manama North causeway, and represents an alternative path to King Faisal Highway, Manama Municipal councillor Abdulmajeed Al Sabe’a said.

Manama Municipality has removed all the trees near Shaikh Isa bin Salman Causeway (leading to Muharraq), to the east of King Faisal Highway. The link will extend to the Northern Town, parallel to King Faisal Highway.

A shortfall in the government budget delayed the project, part of the Bahrain’s 2030 Strategic Plan. The roads network has recently witnessed a number of strategic projects that aim to streamline traffic movement and reduce congestion at intersections, he said.
