Business & Finance Club - Cinema : The Social Network, a controversial movie about Mark Zuckerberg and the founding of popular social networking site Facebook, has topped the box office. The Aaron Sorkin film raked in $23 million in it's first couple of days in theaters and has obtained a rating of 97 percent on review aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes.
Despite its obvious popularity with the movie-going public, Zuckerberg recently told Oprah Winfrey that the movie is not an accurate representation of the birth of Facebook and that he wished the last few years of his life had been so dramatic.
"This is my life, so I know it's not that dramatic," the 26-year-old told Oprah in an interview. "The last six years have been a lot of coding and focus and hardwork. But you know, maybe it would be fun to remember it as partying and all this crazy drama, so you know, who knows. Maybe it will be an interesting story."
The Social Network was directed by Fight Club's David Fincher, produced by Kevin Spacey, and the screenplay was written by Aaron Sorkin of West Wing fame. Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor did the soundtrack and the story itself is based on Ben Mezrich's book, The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding Of Facebook, A Tale of Sex, Money, Genius, and Betrayal. Jesse Eisenberg plays a young Mark Zuckerberg, starring alongside Justin Timberlake, Rooney Mara, and Andrew Garfield.
