Business & Finance Club - Kuwait - Finance and Investment: The undersecretaries of finance and economy of the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) are due for a meeting in the Saudi Capital, Riyadh, on Thursday to prepare for the 84th meeting of the Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee, due in May.
A statement by the GCC Secretariat said the meeting would focus on implementation of the decision of the GCC Higher Council on implementation of the economic aspects of Qatar's proposals on completing preparations for the GCC Customs Union. This involves working towards mechanisms that acceptable to all parties to work on meeting further criteria required for the establishment of the union, as well as settling issues related to investment in education and healthcare.
The meeting would also address the economic aspects of the Bahraini vision on development of the GCC in implementation of the decision of the 30th session of the Higher Council.
Other issues to be discussed include report by the consultative authority on financial crises and their effect on GCC states, a Higher Council decision on a consultative authority report over achievements of the GCC since its establishment, and several records and reports by technical committees.
