Business & Finance Club - Muscat : Oman’s Ministry of Education has signed an agreement with Intel which will see 45,000 teachers over the next five years trained on how to better use technology in classrooms.

According to the terms of the agreement the teachers will receive intensified courses on the effective use of technology in education. They will learn also how to introduce technological tools and resources into study plans, the Oman News Agency Reported.

The deal was signed on behalf of the ministry by Saud bin Salim al Balushi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Educational Planning, and on behalf of Intel International by Samir al Shamaa, regional manager for Intel Middle East.

Al Sulaimi said that Intel was a good choice as a partner in the scheme, as it has longstanding experience in education programmes that aim to enhance the student's learning through the integration of information and modern communication devices.

The agency said that the Intel Education Program, which teaches skills such as webpage design, is designed to help teachers who have little experience in computing to acquire the basic technology skills, and develop the necessary learning and education skills, to ensure effective utilisation of technology in classrooms.
