Flydubai launches service to Luxor

Business & Finance Club Magazine - Transportation Sector - Dubai: Flydubai's inaugural flight to the Egyptian city of Luxor took off from Dubai International Airport's Terminal 2 on Wednesday, marking its second destination to Egypt and its 15th destination overall.

Luxor is the low-cost airline's second destination in Egypt after Alexandria. The airline will launch a flight to Assiut, its third Egyptian destination, on May 24.

Flydubai is offering three weekly flights to Luxor with prices starting from Dh350.

Flight FZ183 will depart from Dubai International Airport's Terminal 2 at 10.55pm and land in Luxor at 1.35am local time the following day.

The return flight, FZ184, will leave Luxor at 2.20am and arrive in Dubai at 6.45am local time.

Hamad Obaidullah, Chief Commercial Officer of flydubai, said: "Our flights to Alexandria have proved to be extremely popular and it is on the back of this success that we have launched our second Egyptian destination. Flights to our third destination in Egypt, Assuit, are just around the corner.

Support

Obaidullah thanked the Egyptian authorities for their support and said flydubai looked forward to continuing the close relationship and providing affordable, high quality and low cost travel access for both UAE and Egyptian travellers. Luxor is synonymous with ancient Egyptian history, being home to famous archeological sites such as the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Karnak.

Mohab Nasr, Egyptian Consul General in Dubai, said: "flydubai's new service to Luxor is a welcome boost for tourism and will encourage more and more travellers from the Gulf to experience one of Egypt's most famous cities."

The flydubai model is simple, with customers paying only for the services they want to receive. The ticket price includes all taxes and one piece of hand baggage, weighing up to 10kg, per passenger.

Passengers have the option to purchase checked-in baggage in advance at just Dh60 for the first piece and Dh150 for the second, weighing up to 32kg, subject to availability.

Baggage

Checked baggage at the airport is subject to availability and passengers need to book online early to secure the space, as only pre-purchased baggage can be guaranteed.

A nominal payment of Dh5 allows customers to select their seat and Dh100 secures the extra legroom positions. Bookings can be changed for a small fee, plus any difference in the fare, and food and drink can be purchased on board.

Flydubai operates from a modernised and enhanced Terminal 2 on the north side of Dubai International Airport.
