The award was given by the Secretariat for Economic and Social Affairs, an affiliate of the UN. The prize is the highest recognition of e-services. The KSU, which was founded by King Saud in 1957, is the first Saudi university to achieve this distinction.
The award was received by Abdullah Al-Othman, Director of the university, at a function in Barcelona, Spain, on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion Al-Othman said a major factor for the winning of the award was the keenness of KSU to implement advanced educational technology with multimedia facilities for effective and interactive learning.
Hamad Al-Asheikh, registrar of the university for development and quality, said the university won the award because of its untiring efforts in pursuit of innovation in the area of public service.
KSU is the Kingdom’s oldest university. Some of the notable projects of the university include Riyadh Techno Valley Program and Riyadh Knowledge Corridor.
