Business & Finance Club - MUSCAT — Fifteen agreements costing more than RO 136 million to develop aviation, roads and ports were signed here yesterday at the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
The deals were signed by Dr Khamis bin Mubarak al Alawi, Minister of Transport and Communications, and general managers of the respective companies.
The two agreements to develop the civil aviation sector include one with Indra company for the supply and installation of standard equipment at the new Muscat International and Salalah airports and other domestic airports (RO 44,850,000).
The second with ASK Innovative Germany company is related to the supply and installation of direct connection equipment for the visual presentation system (RO 225,000). The road and land transport sector development projects include an agreement with the Gulf of Oman for the repair of Nizwa-Thumrait road (stage 4 — part 3, about 191.4 km) (RO 32 million).
The second agreement with Al Nasr al Arabia is for the repair of Nizwa–Thumrait road (stage 4 — part 2, about 133.45 km) (RO 23,999,996).
The third agreement with Khalid bin Ahmed and Sons is for the designing and implementation of Wadi al Halti road in the Wilayat of Sohar (47 km long) at a cost of RO 14,680,000.
The fourth agreement with Galfar Engineering and Contracting Company is for the construction of a road from Wadi Hat in the Wilayat of Al Hamra to the Wilayat of Rustaq (stage 4 — part 1, about 11 km long) (RO 14,204,242).
The fifth agreement with Ali and Partners Trading and Contracting Company is for the designing and implementation of road connections in Hamra al Dorou in the Wilayat of Ibri (about 39.3 km long)(RO 2,510,590). The sixth agreement with the Gulf of Oman Company is for the designing and construction of internal roads in the Wilayat of Nizwa (4) — Al Jabal al Akhdhar (about 7 km long) (RO 2,732,618).
The seventh agreement with Abu Ghuzlan Trading and Contracting Company is for the designing and construction of asphalt road from Mahout — Al Duqum to Nifon in the Al Wusta Region (about 12 km long) (RO 820,000).
The eighth agreement with Desert Caravan is for the construction of Zahr Alzaroub-Al Shabaka road in the Al Buraimi Governorate (about 15 km long) (RO 780,000).
The ninth agreement with Khalid bin Ahmed and Sons Company is for closing the crossroads in the Southern Al Batinah road (from Al Naseem roundabout to Al Khabourah roundabout) (RO 243,347).
The 10th agreement with Khalid bin Ahmed and Sons is for closing the crossroads on the Southern Al Batinah road from Al Khabourah roundabout to Sohar roundabout (RO 235,490).
The 11th agreement with Majan Engineering Consultancy is for consultancy services for quantity surveying of the dual carriageway project from Al Zaroub roundabout to Al Buraimi roundabout (RO 107,220).
Dr Al Alawi also signed agreements for port development projects.
The first agreement with Royal Haskoning is for the provision of consultancy services and management of construction of three new bacons and three stations for locating new sites at the Arabian Sea on the Omani coasts (RO 219,465).
The second agreement with Bird Associates is for consultancy services for studying the damage on the Southern break waters at Sohar Industrial Port (RO 260,000).
