Business & Finance Club - DOHA: Qatar yesterday joined the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) after endorsing IRENA’s statute during the fifth Administrative Committee Meeting yesterday in Abu Dhabi, the headquarters of the IRENA General Secretariat.
The endorsement was signed on Qatar’s behalf by H E Dr Mohamed bin Saleh Al Sada, Minister of State for Energy and Industry.
The International Renewable Energy Agency was officially established in Bonn on January 26, 2009. To date, 146 states and the European Union have signed IRENA’s statute, including 48 African, 38 European, 34 Asian, 15 American and nine Australia/Oceania countries.
IRENA’s member states pledge to advance renewable energy in their national policies. |
