Business & Finance Club - Manama : Bahrain's education system could undergo a drastic overhaul under a set of transformations outlined by Education Minister Dr Majid Al Nuaimi.
Speaking during a plenary session at the second edition of The Education Project Bahrain at the Shaikh Isa Cultural Centre yesterday, he revealed a goal for future education.
Increased flexibility, diversity, activity and reflection - in addition to a shift in many cultural aspects - are required, he said.
The minister appeared alongside Tunisia's Education and Training Minister Dr Hatem Ben Salem to offer a government perspective on educational reform.
During his speech, Dr Al Nuaimi described education as one of the vital fields to build, care for and prepare human resources in every society - as well as an investment in human capital.
"Education is an investment in human capital and people are the basic element for all development and the main driving force for the wheel of progress," he said.
"Education contributes effectively to achieve the demands and future ambitions of all communities.
"This has made education the major instrument to confront the 21st century changes and satisfy the requirements of comprehensive and sustainable development.
"Hence, the more education provides effective tools to nurture and educate people, the more better would be the global society."
Dr Al Nuaimi went on to discuss the rapid changes occurring in all aspects of life and how education can confront it.
"The era we witness is characterised by a digital revolution, big changes in the world of economy, qualitative developments in the field of know-how and science, in addition to drastic social and human transformations," he said.
"It is an era of global interest in investment in human resources and technological capacities, and in consolidating the concepts of mastery, professionalism and excellence for achieving a high-quality educational projects. "While education's minimal aims call for adaptation and improvement, its maximum aims call for development and change."- |
