With the support of Thales University, KUSTAR, Thales and Thales Advanced Solutions will create and develop a joint programme for engineering education which will be delivered at KUSTAR and is geared towards fulfilling the needs of both local and foreign companies and institutions by supplying highly qualified human resources in System Engineering, Software engineering, Communications and Radar Technology.
This significant partnership enables KUSTAR to extend its provision of world-class academic programmes to future engineers, while benefiting from Thales's unique experience in Software- and System Engineering.
Some of the planned initiatives are:
Advanced courses, practical projects, seminars for undergraduate and graduate programmes,
Postgraduate programmes,
Internship opportunities,
Implementation of joint Research and Development (R&D) projects.
By providing KUSTAR's students with academic training in various engineering fields, the KUSTAR-Thales cooperation complements Abu Dhabi government's strategy to develop and sustain national assets and human capital in the UAE's hi-tech industrial fields.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Mualla, Interim Provost of KUSTAR said: "This strategic alliance with Thales will create a number of opportunities for both organizations, allowing KUSTAR to expand its academic offering into new areas with world-class partner support and facilitating a new era in technical learning for our students."
Mr. Luc Vigneron, Thales Group Chairman & CEO, said: "We are proud of this partnership that was initiated in 2009, and our focus will be to support KUSTAR initiatives to develop a new generation of highly skilled engineers ready to serve the long-term development and strategic goals of the UAE".
Mr. Patrick Oszczeda, Thales Country Director, added: "Since the early 1990s, Thales has been dedicated to support local training & education programs. Our partnership with KUSTAR is a key milestone for genuine local empowerment".
This MoU results from a successful existing relationship between KUSTAR and Thales, initiated in 2009 when KUSTAR students took part in a scientific field-trip programme visiting several Thales Engineering, R&D and Manufacturing facilities in Europe.
In early 2010, Thales University and Thales Advanced Solutions also contributed to several KUSTAR student awareness initiatives highlighting future engineering career path opportunities.
