Qapco Signs Partnership Agreement with Texas A&M
Business & Finance Club Magazine - Education Sector - Doha: Qatar Petrochemical Company, Qapco on Sunday signed a partnership agreement with Texas University A&M at Qatar, entitling young Qatari students to join the university and pursue a higher standard of education.
Speaking at the agreement signing ceremony held at Texas University A&M headquarters in Doha, Dr. Mohamed Yousef Al Mulla, the General Manager and Board Member of Qapco has, stated: "Qapco's partnership agreement with Texas University in Qatar is meant to formalize a mechanism of cooperation between both parties, in light of which, more Qatari students will be sponsored by Qapco for a higher standard of education." Dr. Al Mulla also added that, "Qapco sees in sponsoring those students a future investment, as they will apply what they are going to study in the university when they join the Qapco family, and in that way, the company guarantees the continuation of its adopted policy of continuous growth and development."
The partnership agreement between Qapco and the University is not the first of its kind as a sponsorship agreement between them both was signed last month, by means of which, Qapco will sponsor the 14th International Union for Pure and Applied Chemistry Conference to be held in Qatar by the University in 2012, marking the beginning of a fruitful relationship in the coming years.
The Qapco visiting delegation to the University Campus was received by the University Dean, Professor Mark Weichold, who stated, "We are very proud to sign this partnership agreement with Qapco, as a means of future cooperation on educational levels." Dr. Mohamed Yousef Al Mulla further noted that, "This agreement enhances Qapco's commitment to the quality Qatarization policy, by providing work and educational opportunities to Qatari students who join the company.
On the other hand, the agreement renews the company's commitment to its social responsibility toward the society by ensuring a better quality of education to the Qatari students in the outstanding and distinguished educational institutions in the country." He further explained that Qapco is the main sponsor of educational institutions in Qatar such as the Omar Bin Al Khattab Educational complex, whose annual graduation ceremony is sponsored by Qapco, a proof of Qapco's persistence on hardworking students throughout their educational careers." Following the singing of the agreement, the Qapco visiting delegation took a tour of the facilities and laboratories of the University accompanied by University executives and professors.
During the tour, the Qapco delegation had visits to the departments of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, petroleum engineering, and chemical engineering. They were also given a presentation on Texas University at Qatar on the activities and degrees granted by the University.
It is also noteworthy that Qapco's Qatarized jobs have reached a percentage of 25 of all the employees working in the company in the different sectors.
