Qatari-Oman Joint Committee Meeting Begins in Doha

Business & Finance Club - Industry - Doha: The 15th Meeting of the Qatari-Oman Joint Committee under the chairmanship of H.E. Deputy Premier and Minister of Energy and Industry Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, and H.E. Omani Oil and Gas Minister Mohammed bin Hamad al-Ramhi began here this morning.
The meeting is to address many issues of common concern, especially in the industrial, economic and educational fields, as well as in the areas of information, petroleum cooperation, standards and specifications, tourism, environment and fishery resources.
H.E. Al Attiyah underlined the unique relationship between Qatar and the Sultanate of Oman, thanks to the wise guidance of H.H. the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Sultan of Oman, as well as their keenness on the development of such relationships in various fields.
Addressing the opening session of the meeting, he commended the efforts made by Qatari-Oman Joint Committee since its inception in 1995, and its positive impact on the activation of ties between the two countries.  
He added that Qatar is keen to push forward the relations in various fields.
H.E. the Deputy Premier and Minister of Energy and Industry added the committee members represent most sectors in both countries. This is in order to develop cooperation and joint action in the said areas, he added, stressing the need to focus on various fields in both the public and private sectors.
Necessary support to match the unique relationships between the two countries should be given, Al Attiyah said.
The mission of the Joint Committee is to develop general norms and principles and remove all obstacles that may prevent the attainment of goals and aspirations of both sides, he added, stressing the need to speed up the Committee's efforts to overcome all obstacles.
He emphasized the significance of the 15th meeting, saying that its results, like those of the previous meetings, will be positive and contribute to strengthening and developing cooperation between the two countries so as to achieve the aspirations of the two people.
The meeting's agenda, he said, includes many items and topics, which will be discussed in detail, and the accomplished progress in terms of the results and recommendations of previous meetings, as well as emerging issues.
Concluding his speech, H.E. Al-Attiyah wished the Committee every success in its duties, hopping for its meeting to come out with good results that strengthen the excellent relations Qatar and Oman are enjoying.
