Business & Finance Club Magazine - Oil & Gas Sector - MUSCAT — Oman Polypropylene (OPP) became the first company in Oman to receive ISO 9001:2008 (Quality Management Systems), ISO 14001:2004 (Environmental Management Systems) and OHSAS 18001:2007 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System) certifications simultaneously for manufacturing and marketing of different grades of polypropylene.
Dr Hamad bin Hashim al Dhahab, CEO of OPP, received the certificates from InterTech International S A during a ceremony held at the company premises on June 13.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Hamad said: “Getting these international certificates in the fields of quality, environmental management, occupational health and safety is considered as another feather in the cap of the company, especially in taking precedence among the manufacturing establishments in the Sultanate in receiving these certificates under integrated management system.”
“OPP seeks to achieve institutional excellence through continual improvement of all the services that we offer to our customers and the shareholders.
This comes also as an emphasis on the company's eagerness to contribute to the national programme for the protection and preservation of the environment and to ensure the safety of employees and contractors.
By receiving these certificates, the company has entered into a new phase within its endeavors to achieve progress, develop and to improve the levels of its activities, operations, services and performance,” he added.
Dr Hamad said, "The certification is the result of continuous work throughout the year to build an integrated system that achieves the basic requirements for quality management system, environment management system and occupational health and safety management system.
It confirms the company's ongoing commitment for applying the best practices in the field of Integrated Management System.”
PC Anand, HSE Manager of OPP said: “The certificates received by the company are internationally approved prestigious certificates that indicate the company's commitment to prescribed procedures and standards of quality, environmental management, occupational health and safety management programme.
The preparations for getting these certificates included documenting all the practices and administrative procedures, ensuring its conformity to the ISO international standards through relying on the qualified employees in the company.”
He said the certifications help provide high level of services to customers and shareholders, in addition to meeting their requirements and exceeding their expectations with regard to the performance level in providing these services.
