Medical Sector In view of the appropriations and huge resources which were allocated by the GCC countries to improve the general health levels, which accompanied by the advancement of the infrastructure of the medical sector in the GCC countries such as establishment of advanced hospitals that equal the international ones, and supplied it with the qualified cadres. According to the statistics, the investment volume in the medical sector in the GCC countries amount 80$ billion and the volume of expenditures on it amount 40$ billion. The number of beds in government hospitals in U.A,E. in the year 2004 was about 6872 beds compared to 5963 beds in the year 1996, Bahrain 4694 beds compared to 1578, Saudi Arabia 39995, compared to 36028, Oman 8085 compared to 4798, Qatar 1421, compared to 1127, Kuwait 4747, compared to 4425. The most important developments in the medical sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was its localization, which registered great results globally in health care field. |
