The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine has been authorized to be used in Abu Dhabi, according to local health officials. According to the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is available at 11 locations in Abu Dhabi City, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra, but only by already issued prescription.

That being said, the vaccine is not recommended to the following groups of people: those who have already participated in Phase III clinical trials, those who have had single or several doses of certain other Covid-19 vaccines, pregnant women, and people with these kinds of conditions determined by medical team examination. It is also not applicable to people who have severe allergic reactions to any component of the vaccine, and kids under the age of 16 years.

After the provision of the Chinese Sinopharm as part of the national vaccination campaign, Pfizer-BioNTech is the second vaccine to be made accessible in the emirate. Residents should book appointments for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine at each of the six SEHA centers (3 in Abu Dhabi, 2 in Al Ain, and 1 in Al Dhafra), or call 8004959 or contact MCV@telemed.ae for Mubadala Health facilities (4 in Abu Dhabi and 1 in Al Ain).

In the meantime, as part of the department's attempts to make the vaccine accessible to all members of the population, the Sinopharm vaccine is now accessible at 133 locations throughout the emirate. SEHA wellness and drive-through centers, private hospitals, and majlis are among the services.

Both of these significant changes occurred just hours after a government spokesman encouraged residents and emigrants above the age of 16 to get vaccines and stated that stringent steps are being proposed to limit the travel of unvaccinated individuals who are entitled to receive the vaccine.

According to Saif Al Dhaheri, spokesman for the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management (NCEMA), more than 3.8 million people were being completely immunized in the UAE, with a total of 5,081,853 people receiving the first dosage, accounting for 65.54 % of the qualifying categories.
