Crown Prince and Chinese president looks forward to strengthen bilateral ties through phone call

The Saudi Press Agency announced that Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman spoke by phone with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday.

During the call, they discussed Saudi Arabia's green measures for the Kingdom and the Middle East, their commitment to meeting global climate change objectives, and their critical position in improving the region's and the world's standard of living.

During his meeting with the Chinese president, the Crown Prince said that Saudi Arabia is preparing to arrange an annual conference for the “Green Middle East” movement in the participation of environmental leaders and officials, emphasizing that China will be a key participant in the project.

The Chinese president, for his part, voiced his country's support for the measures and urged the international network to help them. Mostly during the call, facets of Saudi-Chinese relations, areas of bilateral cooperation, and prospects for bilateral cooperation in different sectors were discussed.

According to Xinhua, the Crown Prince and the Chinese president discussed ways to improve bilateral collaboration in oil, commerce, and technology, as well as environmental problems. According to Xinhua, the Crown Prince described China as a valued partner, adding that Saudi Arabia is ready to deepen the strategic interdependence between the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which intends to broaden its economy apart from oil and Chinese President Xi's Belt and Road Initiative, which focuses on trade and infrastructure.

According to Xinhua, the Chinese president conveyed his intention to take the strategic relationship with Riyadh "to a higher platform." Both leaders shared a willingness to collaborate with many other members of the international community to create an inclusive climate governance regime that is collaborative and useful to everyone.

According to the Xinhua paper, they have called for intensified efforts to press for the full and effective adoption of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change in line with the concept of mutual yet separate obligations.
