The ship "FREEDOM LINE," with a capacity of (54,000) tonnes, arrived at Yanbu Commercial Port today, marking the first of many shipments of wheat which were expected to arrive at the port for Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO) following the completion of the silos project, which was created with a capacity of 120,000 tonnes.

The silos project seeks to support expansion goals, boost handling volumes, provide an appealing atmosphere for shipping lines, improve commercial traffic, and maintain supply chain continuity linked with attaining balanced food security.

Yanbu Commercial Port is regarded as a key seaport because of its closeness to the local marketplaces of Madinah and Qassim districts, and a gateway for business transfers to and from these economically promising locations. It is roughly 460 nautical miles south of the Suez Canal and 168 nautical miles northwest of the Islamic Port of Jeddah.

The port has 12 berths with a total length of around 4.2 kilometres, and a tourism berth with a length of 180 metres and a width of 10 metres, which is interconnected to its two berths for refueling and receiving yachts.

The port's capacity exceeds 13.5 million tonnes, so it includes a passenger terminal that can handle up to 2,000 people, a general cargo terminal, and two silos for holding bulk commodities with a 20,000-ton capacity per unit.
