In response to the president's wishes, Saad Hariri stated at a parliament session on Saturday that he will not form a cabinet.

Saad al-Hariri, Lebanon's prime minister-designate, stated on Saturday that he will not establish a cabinet that just adheres to President Michel Aoun's demands.

"I would not establish a government as his Excellency the President's team or any other political group desires. I will only build the type of administration required to prevent the fall and avert the major crash that is endangering the Lebanese "On Saturday, Hariri addressed a parliamentary session.

Hariri said that President Aoun's letter of objection to parliament was an effort to withdraw his candidacy for prime minister. He said that the political onslaught was the outcome of his failure to give in to Mr. Aoun's demands on the composition of a new administration.

"For seven months, we have handed the [prime minister]-designate an impossible challenge: either the government is constituted how the president's political team needs it, imitating his Excellency’s desire and pretending that he has no requests, or that there is no government," Hariri continued.

Following the meeting, Hariri condemned President Aoun's letter as an endeavor to divert attention away from the country's numerous failures to establish a government.

President Aoun's letter, read to parliament on Friday, said that "it has now become apparent that the prime minister-designate is still unable to establish a government competent of salvation and meaningful interaction with international financial institutions, international funding, and donor nations."
