Princess Tarfa

Sheikha Salama Bint Hazza Al Nahyan, renowned Emirati author and member of the UAE ruling dynasty, has announced her participation in this year's Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), which will take place from 3 November to 13 November 2021, as part of its promotional campaign for her newest children's book release, The Horse, The Saluki, and The Falcon.

The Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) is an annual international cultural event that showcases and helps to promote the work of acclaimed Arabic and international authors, and the publishing business, under the guidance of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and under the banner of Sharjah Book Authority. The book fair hosts intellectual, cultural, and artistic activities, and award programs based on nomination and selection mechanisms that are implemented throughout the year, bestowing authors in multiple categories such as Best Emirati Book, Best International Book, Best Arabic Novel, The Publisher Recognition Awards, Cultural Personality of the Year, and The Turjuman Awards. Sheikha Salama Bint Hazza Al Nahyan thinks that her participation in this year's event will help Its objective of encouraging reading as a practice among the younger generation and developing a love of literature among all the people of that country.

The Horse, the Saluki, and the Falcon is a compilation of quotations that pays respect to the UAE by transforming iconic creatures from Emirati culture into symbols of wisdom that teach lessons in empathy, love, and kindness. Sheikha Salama Bint Hazza Al Nahyan draws creative inspiration from Charlie Mackesy's highly praised book, The Boy, The Mole, The Fox, and The Horse, for her ability to weave percipience into prose. This new book marks the author's foray into fiction for a more matured readership.

"I am humbled and honored to participate in this respected event and show my work," said renowned novelist Sheikha Salama Bint Hazza Al Nahyan. My objective is to increase consciousness of our cultural legacy through a sequence of children's books, such that people around the world are better familiar with our history and culture. That is why I have shown my work at several prestigious book fairs, so I am ecstatic to have the chance to show my books at the Sharjah International Book Fair."

The prestigious writer made her first appearance as an author in 2019 with her first book The Invisible Orphans, followed by four additional children's books loaded with stories and lessons. She created it a necessity to pay homage to her Emirati heritage through her writing after discovering there are very few books that reflect the Emirati culture.

Sheikha Salama, an Emirati author, and granddaughter of the late Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan, started her literary adventure in 2015, following a year of exploring her creative side, eventually led to her path in creating fictitious stories. This is the author's objective to have her novels pay homage to her Emirati culture and heritage when it became clear there were not enough stories and description of the UAE in the literary world, and the author wished to be recognized as one of the writers who shines a light on the Emirati culture in a modern story-telling manner.

Sheikha Salama's following four novels came easily after she finished her debut novel, The Invisible Orphans, and by 2019, the 21-year-old writer had released five books, which are:

· The Invisible Orphans

· A Play on Children’s Rights

· The Well off  Mysteries

· Umm Al Nar

· The Horse, The Saluki, & The Falcon
