Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Commissioner General of Expo 2020 Dubai, mentioned that the UAE, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, encourages tolerance, peace, and solidarity as the building blocks of its relations with all countries around the world.
Expo 2020 Dubai, he continued, is a gesture of peace and tolerance from the UAE to the globe, aiming to promote harmonious coexistence and fraternity across diverse sects and religions while engaging in the world's greatest event of its type.
Sheikh Nahyan reaffirmed the UAE's steadfast commitment to promoting global cooperation and the ideals of peace and tolerance.
Sheikh Nahyan welcomed Massimo Badji, Swiss Ambassador to the UAE, and several religious group leaders in his palace.
They addressed opportunities to strengthen collaboration between UAE and Switzerland in a variety of disciplines and their perspectives on many regional and international topics of mutual importance.
The two parties addressed Switzerland's participation in Expo 2020 Dubai, and the contributions of various religions with the event, to encourage the values of tolerance, peace, and coexistence, and the concept of "unity in diversity" by introducing several panel discussions and meetings exhibiting visual materials, and some other activities that support solidarity and dialogue for the betterment of humanity.
Expo 2020 Dubai would be the first World Expo to be organized in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia region, happening between 1st October 2021 and 31st March 2022, with the involvement of over 200 entities, welcoming visitors from all around the world to commemorate the creativity, innovation, progress, and culture in the pursuit of a better world, he added.
Badji emphasized his country's attempts to enhance collaboration with UAE, particularly because as UAE leads worldwide efforts to improve the ideals of peace, tolerance, brotherhood, and mutual respect for the benefit of humanity.
Badji and religious community leaders praised the UAE's willingness to welcome the world in Expo 2020 Dubai, permitting UAE to usher in a post-COVID period dubbed "Joining hands to create a brighter tomorrow for generations to come."
