Dr. Al-Issa: ‘Makkah Document' unites Islamic scholars

Princess Tarfa

Dr. Muhammad Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and Chairman of the Association of Muslim Scholars, emphasized that the “Makkah Document” conveys a message with an enlightened Islamic horizon initiated by the nation's scholars, signed in the holiest city in Islam by almost 1,200 distinguished Muslim scholars and 4,500 Islamic geniuses from 139 countries and 27 Muslim schools of thought.

These observations were given by Al-Issa while giving a lecture at an international symposium headlined "The Makkah Al-Mukarramah Document: Achievements and Prospects," which was held by The Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) in collaboration with MWL here in Morocco's capital.

The MWL chairman went over the document's main points, emphasizing that it illustrated where Islam stands in terms of civilizational and human cohabitation, and its overall position on several critical contemporary challenges.

He went on to say that the document emphasizes a need to honor the existence of others and safeguard their freedoms and respect through coexistence, partnership, and cooperation, stressing the importance of impactful religious and civilizational dialogue while emphasizing the document's contents that highlight the negativity of evoking the horrors of history that are linked with their own.

Dr. Al-Issa emphasized the importance of the text in developing Islamic communities, combating corruption, rationalizing consumerism and preserving the environment, and rationalizing religious emotions, particularly among young Muslims.

“Some Muslim young hijackers depend on underlying emotion to attain their objectives. “It should be the obligation of the parents and the necessary governmental and civil organizations to promote educational understanding of the youngsters to protect them from these extremist ideas,” he stated.

He went on to say that the Makkah Document filled an essential hole in the Islamic nation's academics' agreement on critical current challenges and that it highlighted the distinctiveness of those scholars by their capability to combine their word amid their considerable sectarian variance.

Dr. Salem Al Malik, Director-General of ICESCO, presented a lecture in which he complimented MWL's efforts in addressing the issues of the Islamic people and the dreams of its generations and also envisioning the finest for their future.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Senouni, Assistant Secretary-General of the Muhammadan Association of Scholars in Morocco, stated that the “Document's” rules and principles are a source of motivation at both the personal and communal levels since it is a humanitarian document in its objective and functional aspects.

Dr. Khaled Al-Samadi, director of the Moroccan Center for Educational Studies and Research, stated that the document rectified many misunderstandings, created many ideals, and created skills for dealing with differences, while Dr. Mustafa Zabakh, rapporteur of the Kingdom of Morocco Academy, explained the document as a crossroads that the Islamic world and all humanity require in light of the current situation.
