Dr. Al-Sheikh reaffirms Saudi Arabia's dedication to sustainable development

Dr. Hamad Bin Mohammad Al-Sheikh, Minister of Education, expressed greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and the Crown Prince to participants in the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Conference on the Implementation of Education for Sustainable Development 2030 on Monday, praying for a better and more sustainable future for everybody.

"We gather today to be proud of our accomplishments, as we pledge that we will continue cooperative efforts to attain the seventeen sustainable development objectives through our educational settings," Dr. Al-Sheikh stated in his remarks as part of the conference's work.

He emphasized the importance of our educational institutions and the growth of our society in ensuring a healthy future.

The Minister of Education went on to say that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has achieved remarkable strides in recent years and that a national committee has been formed to monitor the execution of SDG 4. (SDG 4).

As per Dr. Al-Sheikh, Saudi Vision 2030 strives to a significant worldwide standing for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all economic, social, and cultural spheres, noting that this vision guides all efforts towards whatever achieves sustainable growth, achieving a greater standard of living and a higher quality of life for the Saudi people.

As per the minister, the fifth anniversary of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 coincides with the launch of several new projects and strategies to assist sustainable development following the UN 2030 Agenda.

For example, in response to the climate issue, the Crown Prince created the “Saudi Green” and “Middle East Green” projects, intending to plant 50 billion trees.

The Crown Prince unveiled THE LINE, a metropolis of a million inhabitants with a length of 170 km that protects 95 % of nature under NEOM, with zero automobiles, zero streets, and zero carbon emissions, in another endeavor that reinforces Saudi Arabia's awareness of its duty to our world and selects what will produce a much more sustainable future.

According to the minister, in the Crown Prince's recent appearance on Saudi TV on April 27, 2021, he mentioned education as a vital driver to help the implementation of Vision 2030, in sync with the 17 sustainable growth objectives.

The minister closed his statement by reaffirming that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is resolved to continue its noble efforts for establishing a sustainable future for our world and by conveying his certainty that by engaging together, we can create at least a strong basis for the durability of our society and this planet for our future generations.
