Preservation of Arab and Islamic history and heritage: Stressed by Sultan

His Majesty Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah and a member of the Supreme Council, emphasized the importance of recording and preserving Arab and Islamic culture and heritage in all of its physical and intellectual ways.

He stressed the value of working and making it available for scientific and cultural purposes, as well as informing future generations about the significance of their rich heritage.

The Ruler of Sharjah made the above assertions at the Holy Quran Academy in Sharjah on Monday during a meeting with several families of pioneering Quran reciters. Sheikh Sultan also stressed the importance of Sharjah's Holy Quran Academy.

Sheikh Sultan invited the reciters' families to the Emirate of Sharjah, praising their initiative to provide the Academy with their reciters'. He praised their efforts in serving the Holy Quran and its recitation collections.

The reciters' families admired the Ruler of Sharjah's attempts to promote different cultural elements, as well as his support for all authors and intellectuals working to preserve the Arab and Islamic heritage.

In acknowledgment of the reciter’s families submitting the reciter’s recitation collections to the Academy, the Ruler of Sharjah honored them.

Sheikh Sultan paid a visit to the famous reciters' museum, where he was briefed on the most prominent donated collections, which included Qurans, books, personal and office equipment, recording and radio equipment, rare records, and some clothing, accompanied by the reciters' families.

New Mosque

Sheikh Sultan officially opened Al Bararah Mosque in Sharjah's Al Mahatta neighbourhood on Monday.

Following the unveiling of the curtain to commemorate the mosque's opening, the ruler of Sharjah was briefed on the mosque's service facilities, which include a prayer hall that can accommodate 470 worshipers, 70 of whom are women, as well as ablution and toilets.

The mosque, which covers a total area of 665 square meters, has two floors and three gates, comprising two for males, one for females, and a private entrance for the imam, as well as a 30-meter-high minaret and a 7.5-meter-diameter circular dome.

Rashid Ahmed bin Al Sheikh, Chairman of the Emiri Diwan, Abdullah Khalifa Yarouf Al Sabousi, Director of the Sharjah Directorate of Islamic Affairs, and several department officials attended the opening.
