The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi allocates Dhs6 million to acquire books from ADIBF for government school libraries

Princess Tarfa

His Majesty Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has requested that Dhs6 million be reserved for the buying of books and educational stuff from the 500,000 titles accessible at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) 2021.

To enhance the education sector, the books and instructional resources will be donated to government schools around the UAE. It also emphasizes the necessity of making literary works and cultural study materials accessible to pupils of all ages.

Minister of Education Hussain Bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi stated, "Investing in books entails having invested in minds, which serve as the cornerstone for any nation's progress. We are thankful for His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed's assistance. Making a wide range of works of literature from the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair available to pupils would surely aid in their educational growth. This will also help to extend their minds and better familiarize them with diverse cultures, allowing them to sharpen their abilities and expand their experiences throughout their scholastic path."

"We are immensely pleased of this generosity, which represents His Highness's foresight and wisdom," said Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism — Abu Dhabi. Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as it gives considerable support and assistance to one of our country's major cultural businesses, and comes on the heels of the recent news that publishers will be spared from participation costs at the newest edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair."

He said, "We will instantly start working with the Ministry of Education to guarantee that the title selection matches the requirements of students at all levels of learning, and those school libraries have access to the most recent and significant literary, scientific, cultural, and educational publications. By doing so, we would be able to inspire our children to read and learn much more about the world surrounding them, which is consistent with His Highness's goal of encouraging reading among students and making reading and obtaining knowledge a primary concern for the UAE community."

ADIBF is regarded as among the most important cultural gatherings both locally and regionally. The fair, which is held under the sponsorship of Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed, has become a prominent platform for supporting the publishing sector, enhancing cultural interchange, and expanding the reach of Arabic artistic and literary publications via the development of modern online platforms such as written and audio publishing.

The Fair continues to play a significant role in improving the community's reading culture by gathering together readers and trailblazers, adding value to the local and worldwide cultural and humanitarian context.

The 30th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair will include over 800 exhibitors from 46 countries and will be exhibited as a ‘hybrid' schedule of digital programs and festivals conducted on the base under strong safety precautions to guarantee visitors have an inspired and safe cultural experience.
