The new GDRFA’s building in Muzaira’a area in Sharjah, inaugurated by Sheikh Sultan

His Majesty Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has praised the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) for its important role in preserving UAE heritage and organizing citizen and resident data in a way that records residents' genealogy, history, and legal status.

Sheikh Sultan said this during his speech at the inauguration of GDRFA's building in the Muzaira'a region of Sharjah's Al Rahmaniyah district on Sunday.

The Ruler of Sharjah emphasized GDRFA's significant contribution to the government's decision-making and understanding of people's conditions, which aids in the delivery of services to citizens and their families. He applauded GDRFA's previous efforts, in presenting a report on job succession in incremental steps to ensure a balance of jobs and responsibilities allocated to employees.

Dr. Sheikh Sultan also praised GDRFA's simple services, urging the agency to keep improving services for everyone, and acknowledged all federal and local authorities who contributed to the building's completion and who support GDRFA's work in Sharjah.

His Highness discarded the conventional curtain to mark the formal opening of the building, which covers an area of 18.6 thousand square meters, which he explored in the building and became familiar with its important halls, departments, and services.

The Sharjah Ruler was updated on the central reception hall, distinguished by its open area, which aids in the smooth and comfortable reception of all customers. The building contains 100 tables to receive customers and perform transactions according to the best and fastest procedures.

He was familiar with the most popular customer services, including citizenship, foreigners' affairs, identification, and nationality services, which are delivered in compliance with high-quality standards that provide customers with simple and improved service.

The Sharjah Ruler explored the facility's theatre, which was built with the most up-to-date technical and logistical facilities and can accommodate 385 people for events, conferences, seminars, and other activities. The building comprises a mosque that can accommodate 170 worshipers and a variety of meeting rooms that were allocated to each department separately and were built with the latest equipment and complete privacy for each hall.

A balcony overlooks the waiting area, a lounge in the center of the house, a nursery for the children of working mothers in the building, monitored by a variety of specialists, a gymnasium with the newest training equipment, and a clinic monitored by the Ministry of Health and Prevention.

The structure was built using the most up-to-date systems to promote environmental protection and achieve sustainability through energy-saving equipment that extends the building's life span.

Brigadier Arif Mohammed Al Shamsi, Executive Director of Sharjah's Residency and Foreigners Affairs, gave a speech in which he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah for opening the new building and for His Highness' unwavering support and directives that help the government work grow. Al Shamsi gave a tour of the house, highlighting the most important departments, divisions, and work mechanisms that GDRFA employs to provide high-quality services promptly with routine things.

The Sharjah Ruler also viewed a presentation about the building's architecture, the facilities it houses, and the systems used to construct and operate it.

Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ruler's Office, Mohammed Obaid Al Zaabi, Head of the Protocol and Hospitality Department, and Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Acting Director-General of the Federal Authority for Ports, Customs and Free Zones, were present at the building's inauguration.
