According to the most recent report from the National Center for Palms and Dates (NCPD) and the General Authority for Statistics, the Kingdom will export dates to 107 countries around the world in 2020, reflecting a significant improvement in marketing and an enhancement of exports over past years.

According to Dr. Muhammad Al-Nuwairan, CEO of NCPD, the centre is undertaking numerous projects in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture (MEWA) to expand the dates sector in the Kingdom, and to increase its efficiency and production.

He stated that doing so would increase the arrival of Saudi dates to the nations intended for export and that Saudi dates will then become the highest grade dates in the world.

As per the report, the Kingdom's Vision 2030 aims to invest in the important natural components which the country proliferates in, particularly food and crops and has attempted to make the dates sector among the most important sectors that symbolize a new era of national investments and exports to countries around the world.

The value of date exports increased by 7.1% reaching SR927 million, while the volume of dates exported increased by 17% totaling 215,000 tonnes in the same year.

As per the study, Saudi Arabia aims to increase its worldwide exports and enhance the Saudi dates brand by increasing the quality of production in farms and factories, enhance the quality of exported dates, and promoting investment in the palm and dates industry.

NCPD aims at finding an integrated system of agricultural, logistical, marketing, and knowledge services, and to embrace modern technologies, to accomplish efficiency and productivity, and to accelerate the amount of consumption of Saudi dates locally and internationally, as the Kingdom boasts of possessing and over 31 million palm trees and more than 123,000 agricultural holdings.

The palm and date industry contributes to a variety of industrial and food sectors, including food, feedstock, and other industries such as medicinal and cosmetic goods and construction materials.

There are 157 date factories in the Kingdom. The palm and date manufacturing sectors are some of the most prominent in the world, indicating their expansion in several nations that produce and consume dates.

Since the establishment of the Saudi dates brand, the number of palms that have acquired the brand has risen to 1.7 million, accounting for 5% of the total number of palm trees in the Kingdom.

The brand has been managed to gain by 42 factories, 41 farms, and 24 companies, in addition to numerous farms and factories which are in the course of either embracing the brand or meeting the requirements to join the brand.

According to the research, income from dates would reach record levels, particularly following the development of the supply chain for farmers through the establishment of several post-harvest facilities and services.

Farmers will be able to take advantage of services such as packing, cleaning, and storage, and marketing goods, which will have a big influence on farms and the industry as a whole.
