Etisalat, the Emirates Telecommunications Corporation, announced today that 5% of food orders put on its Smiles app will be donated for the ‘100 Million Meals' initiative. During the Holy Month of Ramadan, the funds will be used to provide food packages to needy individuals and families in 20 countries throughout the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.

Users of the Etisalat app can donate to the campaign in cash or through Smiles points earned for every purchase made through the app. Etisalat also revealed that for the duration of the initiative, it will update its mobile network logo to include the phrase "100 Million Meals" to inspire users to donate.

Etisalat has allocated a number range, which can be found on the campaign's website, www.100millionmeals.ae, that allows users to donate by SMS with their desirable amount.

"This truly noble campaign is reflective of the proactive approach the UAE has taken in recent years to guarantee the world's most needy are cared for in the most challenging times, and Etisalat is glad to represent it," Dr. Ahmed bin Ali, Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications at Etisalat Group, said.

As part of the UAE's contribution to global humanitarian efforts to eradicate hunger and malnutrition, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) introduced the "100 Million Meals" campaign to motivate individuals, organizations, businesses, and businessmen from all segments of society to help deliver food security to those who need it during the Holy Month.

People and organizations within and outside the UAE will donate the cost of essential food products beginning at AED1 – the approximate cost of supplies required to cook a meal in low-income households in beneficiary countries such as Uganda, Lebanon, Egypt, Sudan, Angola, Jordan, and Pakistan – through the ‘100 Million Meals' initiative.

MBRGI is collaborating with the World Food Programme, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment (MBRCH), the Food Banking Regional Network, and humanitarian organizations in recipient countries to guarantee food packages are safely distributed to underprivileged households and villages. There are four ways to donate to the "100 Million Meals" campaign: online, SMS, bank transfer, and call center.

On the campaign's website, www.100millionmeals.ae, donors can make donations ranging from AED10 to AED500 to secure 10 meals. Individuals and companies from both within and outside the UAE can contribute to the campaign's bank account at Dubai Islamic Bank (AE080240001520977815201.). Local contributions may also be done by texting "food" to specific UAE numbers on the Du or Etisalat networks cited on the website.

Reach out to the campaign's team on the toll-free number 8004999 to make a large monetary donation.
