For telecom and postal service providers, CITC offers a toll-free call

The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) has urged all organizations and businesses in the telecommunications and postal service industries to use free digital services available through the toll-free number 800 to better assist their clients.

This figure is given by the commission with the intent of enhancing the level of service provided by companies in the service and commercial industries, making life easy for consumers, and not putting more financial pressures on them.

The telecom regulator stated that it has made ample digital infrastructure for the toll-free number 800 accessible to service providers in a competitive market, making it simpler and easier for them to access it.

The CITC explained that it had previously required all companies subject to its enforcement authority, such as telecommunications and postal service suppliers, to have a toll-free customer service contact number.

These are in addition to creating a separate division to collect, process, and handle beneficiary complaints from service providers, and to facilitate contact with the unit and submission of complaints across all available channels, including electronic, cellular, and in-person.

The authority also advised the firms not to compel the recipient to provide a solitary way to lodge a complaint, and that recourse to all these means be transparent, simple, and unrestricted, to reinforce the processes for protecting recipients and improving the standard of service quality.

It also stressed that each entity must protect clients in the sector under its surveillance by requiring commercial firms to provide customer support by toll-free numbers.
