On May 26-27, 2021, the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA), the Arabian Gulf's chemical industry's voice, will organize the 12th GPCA Supply Chain Conference on a virtual platform.

The conference, themed ‘Powering a resilient, responsive, and agile supply chain,' will bring together prominent industry presenters from the area and around the world to examine the problems confronting global and regional supply chains, the importance of sustainability and digitization in allowing a better future, and the lessons gained from the epidemic.

PIC Chairman Hamad Abdulrahman Alterkait will give a headline talk on how GCC chemical supply lines should prepare for a changing world. Hosam Al-Zamil, vice president, Global Supply Chain, SABIC, Ahmed Abdulla Al-Salahi, chief commercial officer (CCO), Qatar Chemical Company Ltd. (Q-Chem), and Ahmed Al-Katheeri, senior vice president - Supply Chain Management, Borouge will participate in an introductory panel discussion on the sustainability of chemical supply chains.

This live interactive event will provide attendees with the chance to join a series of 40-minute digital supply chain conferences — the conference's newest addition — complete with live demos and case studies of promising technology. The conferences will be delivered by experts from renowned technology companies such as Siemens Digital Logistics, Elemica, IBM, and TradeLens on day two, May 27.

A master class on supply chain sustainability will also be held during the event, covering topics like the design and execution of green supply chains, the importance of sustainable investment, and developing an Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy. The session will be led by BCG and will feature professional speakers from DP World and CEVA Logistics.

“Rigorous and agile supply chains served and continue to play a vital role in aiding the world's battle against the coronavirus epidemic from its inception in March 2020 till today,” said Dr. Abdulwahab Al Sadoun, secretary-general of the GPCA.

The prompt manufacturing, distribution, and transportation of personal protective equipment, critical medical equipment, and, more recently, the vaccine, were being made possible by the presence of a well-connected global supply chain system and the chemical industry's endeavors to assure an undisrupted supply of services and goods.

The pandemic exposed important vulnerabilities in chemical supply networks which must be discussed. The virtual version of the 12th GPCA Supply Chain Conference will investigate the difficulties that lie ahead for one chemical supply chain transition; it will strive to solve some of the main concerns on the concerns of industry professionals and encourage a debate among peers, pulling in viewpoints from the region and the world on specific subjects.

“Enlist with us in this interesting live immersive conference to learn about the future of chemical supply chains and the transition to more robust and agile supply chain networks.”
