After signing a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Japanese administrative authority of Tokushima Prefecture, Strata Manufacturing (Strata), the advanced manufacturing company wholly owned by Mubadala Investment Firm, has increased global distribution of its ‘Made with Pride in the UAE' line of personal protective equipment (PPE) devices.

The Memorandum of Understanding, signed through a digital procedure between Strata CEO Ismail Ali Abdulla and Kamon Iizumi, Governor of Japan's Tokushima Prefecture, would see Strata create a secure supply chain of PPE goods and supplies between both the UAE and Tokushima Prefecture on the island of Shikoku, which houses more than 500,000 people.

In addition to the sale of critical PPE, along with the supply of N95 masks manufactured by Strata's Al Ain facility in collaboration with Honeywell, the two parties will investigate future prospects in technical advancement and R&D. The MoU would also look into the possibility of providing medical supplies and personal protective equipment to municipalities and government-related institutions in other Japanese prefectures.

“Since the establishment of our N95 production line, Strata has striven to help the global war against the pandemic by supplying personal protective equipment where it is most required,” Abdulla said.

Other than advancing this patriotic and humanitarian pledge to export PPE goods that are ‘Made with Pride in the UAE' across the world, this historic MoU encourages broader alliances in shared interests, including technological advancement through various business verticals.

Our cooperative relationship with Strata Manufacturing would enable create a reliable supply chain of PPE goods and necessary medical supplies for our medical system within Tokushima Prefecture. The collaboration will expand its activities to ensure that medical supplies are available to other communities, governments, and other community agencies. The deal will provide hope and peace of to medical practitioners.” said Governor Lizumi.

Strata and Honeywell will commemorate the launch of the millionth N95 mask from Strata's Al Ain facility in September 2020. The relationship between the two institutions provided vital PPE for the UAE's frontline health staff while also converting the country into a foreign exporter of respirator masks to aid in the control of COVID-19's global spread.

The dedicated PPE manufacturing process, which is managed by a combined Honeywell and Strata staff of 70 highly trained production professionals, is now at full capacity to meet an annual production goal of more than 30 million masks.
