Expo 2020 Dubai is utilizing cutting-edge projection and display technologies to light up Al Wasl dome to symbolize 100 days before the entire globe meets in one location.
And over 250 laser projectors illuminated the world's biggest 360-degree projection surface to breathtaking effect as anticipation grew for the first World Expo to be hosted in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA) area.
The celebrations shall continue today evening, when Emaar Hospitality Group, Expo 2020's Official Hotel, and Hospitality Partner, would illuminate the Burj Khalifa at 2020 and 2220 GMT.
Expo 2020, which would happen from October 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022, invites the audience from all over the world to participate in the creation of a new world throughout a six-month commemoration of human creativity, innovation, development, and culture.
Cisco, the Official Digital Network Partner of Expo 2020 Dubai, is ready to welcome guests with its state-of-the-art digital solutions as the 100-day countdown begins, adopting Expo 2020's ambition to present the most unforgettable and digitally connected gathering in the World Expo history. The implementation of Cisco's digital network architecture and security management systems at the facility is the company's largest project in the country.
“When choosing our Digital Network Partner, we realized that for a gathering of this size, we required a technology expert who not only understands our objectives and shares our passion. Cisco has shown to be a valuable member of our team. We are pleased to be in a place where we can confidently announce that Expo 2020 Dubai is ready to welcome guests and provide the world's greatest exhibition, thanks to Cisco with our other technology partners,” said Mohammed Alhashmi, Chief Technology Officer at Expo 2020 Dubai.
Cisco's Intent-Based Network, which has integrated activities into a single IP network, lies at the heart of Expo 2020 Dubai's infrastructure. The smart network constantly learns, adapts, and safeguards to provide a safe and smooth experience for guests, Country Pavilions, and crew.
With Expo 2020 Dubai being the region's largest event of its type, network security management is an important focus. With components such as built-in DNS Layer Security and strong firewalls, Cisco Umbrella (the company's cloud-based business network security solution) serves as the first line of security against possible cyber threats.
This technology is being used at the Network Operating Center at Expo 2020, which Cisco assisted in the development of and is currently administering. Cisco's Physical Security Network supports CCTV surveillance, giving the Organizer unparalleled sight across the venue and delivering comprehensive threat management.
Expo 2020 Dubai, its Country Pavilions, and sponsors are utilizing Cisco Vision – an end-to-end, high definition dynamic digital signage solution – to give attendees unique experiences. Cisco's wireless networks (Wi-Fi) provides secure, high-speed wireless access on the ground, with upload and download bandwidth that allows visitors to connect and share their experiences with the rest of the world, and enabling seamless integration with augmented and virtual reality.
Cisco and Expo 2020 Dubai are confident in the technology's capacity to support a harmonic visitor and participating experience since it has been thoroughly evaluated and certified as suitable for deployment. Application mirroring, hyper conversion, and Cisco's AppDynamics monitoring toolset have been used to offer testing and optimization.
Cisco has enabled Expo 2020 Dubai to streamline network administration with an integrated Network Operating Center, which is critical for overseeing the network and coordinating such a large event. Advanced application readiness and monitoring technologies guarantee that teams are well-equipped and prepared to deal with possible threats, like suspected breaches or outages, in a prompt and measured way.
In addition to powering Expo's three Thematic Districts, Cisco's smart network is ready to service additional high-traffic commercial and recreational venues throughout the Expo 2020 site, like malls, hotels, parks, and plazas.
Cisco's IT infrastructure would also provide network services at the Dubai Exhibition Center, which is co-located at the Expo site, and digitally linking 30 Country Pavilions on the ground, assuring operational preparedness.
“Since 2018, we had been collaborating closely with the team at Expo 2020 Dubai to not just meet, but rather to surpass expectations, so that we could provide unique digital experiences for millions of visitors throughout the course of the event's six-month run. In line with Expo's goals, our technology focuses on helping develop a knowledge-based economy by providing today's and tomorrow's leaders with the tools and insights they require to conceive and create new opportunities. We are delighted to demonstrate what our technology is capable of, and to witness how it is used by organizers, Country Pavilions, and visitors,” said Shukri Eid, Managing Director, Cisco Gulf Region.
