In Dubai, a 12-year-old Indian expat wins an international prize for humanitarian services

Raghav Krishna Seshadri Sumanth, a 12-year-old Indian boy living in Dubai, received the ‘Diana Award' for humanitarian work in academics.

It is also the greatest international honor bestowed on young people for their humanitarian and volunteer work.

Raghav earned the 'Diana Award,' the greatest international award a young person could acquire for social service or humanitarian initiatives, as part of a virtual event due to the pandemic.

As per local media, Raghav and his team created low-cost alternatives that can provide education for Syrian refugee kids and presented their ideas to Dubai Cares, where they will be presented the Young Philanthropist Award in 2019.

Raghav, a student at the Delhi Private School in Sharjah, regards His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, as his ultimate goal, and he worked hard to maintain the UAE and India flags flying high.

Raghav responded to the prize by saying, "I am honored to receive the Diana Award, and I am thankful to the judges, my family, my educators, and the supporters." I am excited to be a part of the Diana Prize Foundation's alumni network and to participate in the Diana Prize Foundation's development programs.”

“I vow to keep on working on many humanitarian and social problems,” he added. The ultimate objective in life, I feel, is being a responsible citizen and a good human being.”

Tessie Ogo, CEO of the Award, stated, "We congratulate the recipients from the United Kingdom and throughout the world who are regarded change-makers for their generation." We believe that winning the award encourages more young people to engage within their communities and begin their journey as responsible citizens.”

Several ideas and tactics provided by Raghav and his team were adopted by Dubai Cares, resulting in a beneficial impact on thousands of Syrian refugee students in Jordan.

Utilizing his educational skills and talent, the student also produced instructional films for youngsters in mathematics and scientific topics on social media.

Raghav also helped raise Dhs30,000 through donations for the scientific training procedure for 73 teachers in 23 schools in the UAE in the last year, amid the pandemic's restrictions.

Previously, the seventh-grade kid received the renowned Hamdan Award for Distinguished Academic Performance for accomplishments in academics, extracurricular activities, leadership, and social work.
