According to the Saudi Arabia's anti-graft agency, 138 people — including locals and expatriates — have already been arrested for their suspected role in corruption.

The Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) said in a report that the suspects comprised of individuals from the defence, interior, National Guard, health, judiciary, urban and rural affairs and housing, education, transportation, media, sport, and human resources and social development ministries, and the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority.

Bribery, misuse of power, and forgery were among the allegations that have been leveled against them. During the month of Ramadan, they were all apprehended during as many as 1733 inspection raids conducted by Nazaha teams.

The defendants were apprehended following an inquiry into the suspected involvement of 588 people. Nazaha also stated that the legal processes have been thoroughly done before they are referred to the courts.

The commission also urged everyone else to report any kind of irregular activity including financial or administrative wrongdoing. They can inform by calling the toll-free number 980, visiting the website www.nazaha.gov.sa, sending an email to 980 @ nazaha.gov.sa, or faxing 0114420057.
