Majd Shaker Jaha, a Saudi designer, has created a new series of creative designs for Amazon, for Eid Al-Fitr. Amazon.ae customers in the UAE will now gift limited edition Eid-themed electronic Amazon.ae Gift Cards to their loved ones.

The vibrant designs depict the magic of this special moment of the year and allow people to give traditional ‘Eideyyah' (traditional Eid gifting) to friends and families through Amazon.ae.

The young artist and Arabic calligrapher behind the design started drawing at a young age and have effectively transformed her talent into a career with the launch of her website, MJD Studio. Jaha has since written two tutorials on watercolor methods, titled "How to Paint using Watercolors" and "How to Draw Flowers."

Her Amazon.ae Gift Card designs were influenced by the hieroglyphs and ornaments seen on Khaliji (Gulf) clothing, and typically celebrated objects found in the city. The sketches were made especially for Amazon in time for Eid, to embody the festive holiday spirit.

Jaha is a 22-year-old Saudi artist and Arabic calligrapher who began drawing at a young age. She studied drawing and architecture before earning a bachelor's degree and a Major in public administration. She is passionate about the plastic arts and design, and enjoys mixing the two. She is a watercolor enthusiast who feels that one is born to be imaginative. As a teacher and content writer, she believes if students begin working at an early age they would be able to build their career more comfortably and quickly while increasing their income and establishing healthy social relationships. She stated in an interview with a regional newspaper that she tries to strike a balance between conventional facets of Saudi culture and her taste.

“I derive inspiration from culturally meaningful and recognizable styles, such as the designs on traditional Saudi cooking utensils or garments like Shalky and Sadu, and experiment with them. Perhaps I'll switch the colors, however, I still want to maintain the design's integrity,” she said. Shalky fabric was once one of the most common fabrics among women. It has beautiful, vibrant colors.

Al Sadu is an ancient tribal weaving technique that artistically depicts the culture and heritage of Arabian nomadic peoples.
