Opening Embassy in UAE, by Israel, will “Advance” Relations: Foreign Ministry

Princess Tarfa

Jerusalem: On Sunday, Israel opened an embassy in the United Arab Emirates. The foreign minister declares it to be a historic move, in these four months between the Gulf country and the Jewish state after they stepped forth to normalize political ties between the two countries.

The ministry further confirms, “The Israeli embassy in the United Arab Emirates has been officially opened in the presence of mission head Eitan Naeh, and this embassy will work on advancing the relationship between countries in a various manner.

In September, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain signed a US-brokered deal, so that they can further normalize the relations with the Jewish state.

"Abraham Accords", is a kind of agreement, which shattered the long-lived Arab consent about not having any kind of normal political ties with Israel, unless it makes a comprehensive deal of peace with the Palestinians. To which, even Palestinians considered it as a “stab in the back”.

The Embassy, in Abu Dhabi, will continue to work in temporary offices, till they relocate to a permanent residence.

Further, Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi, acknowledges this step saying that the embassy would "enable the expansion of bilateral relations between Israel and the Emirates for a swift and maximal implementation of the potential in these ties."

For the first time, even UAE has approved the establishment of an embassy in Israel. To which, Ashkenazi acknowledges UAE’s decision and further adds that it will advance warm ties between both, the state and its people.

Sudan also became the third Arab country to sign the Abraham Accords and the fourth one in the row to normalize diplomatic relations with the Jewish state.

Morocco also stepped in to follow the suit and normalized ties with Israel in December. Seeing this, Washington comes forth to support Moroccan rule over the disputed Western Sahara region.

This seems like a remarkable event because, till last year, only Egypt in the year 1979 and Jordan in 1994 came forth to normalize political ties with Israel.

On Sunday, seeing their efforts even the Israeli government gave a green signal to Morocco, to move ahead with the agreement for its final approval in the parliament.

The foreign ministry further announces in its mission in Rabat, that a consulate is in the making and will shortly open in these coming days.

The statement also confirms that an Israeli embassy in Manama, Bahrain, has been operational for quite a several weeks.
