On the sidelines of the coastal and marine tourism conference in Athens, Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb and Greek Minister of Tourism Harry Theoharis entered into an agreement for collaboration in the field of sustainable coastal and marine tourism on Sunday.

The Kingdom of the Netherlands and Greece reiterated their dedication to the long-term development of coastal and marine tourism in their respective nations.

The agreement addressed the exchange of information and best practices in the areas of investment, human capital growth, training, event organizing, marketing, and promotion in order to increase sustainable coastal and marine tourism in the Kingdom and Greece.

"This is a great move done by Saudi Arabia and Greece, and this is one of the rewards of international collaboration which would produce a more environmental sustainability for tourism and contribute to resolving the pandemic's effects on the global tourist industry," Al-Khateeb said.

Al-Khateeb emphasized that the Kingdom is committed to its tourist initiatives to conserving the marine and coastal environment and promoting the tourist sector's long-term growth.

The Greek minister, for his part, stated that coastal and marine tourism is the foundation of Greece's tourism offerings, and thus the preservation of ecosystems has been one of our objectives, looking forward more to collaborate with the Kingdom to ensure the sustainable development of coastal and marine tourism in our two nations.
