UN chief: A school shooting in Russia was defined as an "act of senseless violence"

Kazan, in southwestern Russia, where people were killed in a mass shooting on Tuesday.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres has strongly criticized Tuesday's deadly shooting at one school in the Russian city of Kazan, which event eventually killed two adults and seven children.

The UN Secretary-General was greatly shocked to hear about their killings, according to his Spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric.

“He deeply criticizes this heinous act of violence and extends his heartfelt condolences to the victims' loved ones and families, and also the Russian Federation's Government and the people,” Mr. Dujarric said.

Kazan is the capital and the largest city of the Republic of Tatarstan, situated about 500 miles east of Moscow.

According to media outlets, the attack occurred at 9:20 a.m. local time. A 19-year-old man has been arrested, and inquiries are currently in progress.

At least 21 additional people were wounded in the firing, the majority of whom were teenagers, and the Secretary-General wished them a swift and complete recovery.
