At the Jiu-Jitsu Arena on the second day of the 12th Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, the world's best Masters (athletes over 30) put on a good show, with athletes from Brazil taking home most of the gold medals.

Brazil's mat veterans dominated the day, winning 70 medals in total, including 27 golds, 24 silvers, and 19 bronzes. Russia came in second with 27 medals, including 9 gold, 10 silver, and 8 bronze, followed by the UAE with 23 medals, including 5 gold, 9 silver, and 9 bronze.

Alex Nascimento, Head of Referees at ADWPJJC, said of the good results at the championship, "This rivalry is an exception in today's world, putting high-caliber jiu-jitsu athletes into one roof." This demonstrates that the UAE is a global leader in sports event hosting, with such well-known brands and rigorous safety systems.”

On day two of the championship, which runs until April 9, Paulo Miayo (62kg) was one of the top finishers, claiming gold after an impressive performance against Javier Gomez ended in a submission win.

“This is a fantastic opportunity. Being here playing in these conditions is one thing; winning a gold medal on this stage is quite another. Thanks to the organizers and Abu Dhabi for bringing us together in such a clean environment,” Miayo said after winning.

“I was targeting the gold but it is awesome to be able to play against the best of the best jiu-jitsu players from around the world,” Polish star Radoslaw Singer said after winning gold in the 94-kg black belt competition. The level of competition is skyrocketing, and it's fantastic to be able to play in a healthy atmosphere during these historic times.”

Anna Carolina Ardisson was a star performer in the women's race, winning the 55-kg black belt gold over Tine Schedlman of Belgium.

In the Masters' class, athletes from all over the Arab world competed, with Jordanian black belt athlete Wissam Ahmed winning gold in the Masters' group 2, 85-kg. “It is a pleasure to compete as an Arab athlete among the best in the world. Abu Dhabi is the only location in the world that can safely conduct such large-scale events. The gold medal is the icing on the cake.” He said.

The world's best jiu-jitsu athletes between the ages of 18 and 30 will compete in purple, blue, brown, and black belt rank in different weight divisions on days three and four of the championship.
