Sharjah defeated the Air Force of Iraq in an AFC Champions League match on Wednesday, with Khalid Bawazir scoring the game's lone goal.

In the 62nd minute, Bawazir converted a pass from Caio from the left side of the six-yard box to bring Sharjah ahead 1-0. Air Force made a valiant effort to restore parity with some attacking play, but Sharjah goalkeeper Adel Al Hosani put up a strong front to challenge the visitors with some outstanding athleticism.

Sharjah made it to the top of their category with three points, while Air Force was relegated to the bottom. With one point each, Pakhtakor and Tractor are in second and third position, respectively, after a thrilling 3-3 draw earlier in the evening.

When Air Force was given a penalty in the 32nd minute, they were the closest to scoring. They didn't take advantage of the situation, though, as captain Humam Tariq squandered a chance to slot a pass from Aymen Hussein into the far post.

The score stayed 0-0, and the game seemed to be headed for a draw. Both teams, nevertheless, were working hard to break the tie and lead the way. Air Force was playing a more aggressive game, bouncing the ball well to maintain possession. Sharjah's Salem Saleh was unable to put the ball in the net after receiving a pass from Luanzinho, as the latter's right-footed shot from close range went higher than expected.

Several minutes later, Ryman of the Air Force collided with Sharjah captain Shaheen, resulting in both players bleeding. As the game entered halftime, both players were covered in blood, with the score tied at 0-0.

When Ibrahim Bayesh was given a free kick for a foul made by Sharjah's Khaled Ebraheim, he had the chance to bring Air Force up 1-0. Even so, his header from the center of the box was too errant to cause any concern for Sharjah, and it ended up to the right of the goal.
