Sharjah post wins: Bani Yas snatches late victory

Bani Yas defeated Al Nasr 3-2 at home in matchweek 20 of the Arabian Gulf League on Friday, thanks to a late goal from Fawaz Awana. Al Nasr took the lead in the first half when Mehdi Abeid scored in injury time, giving the Blues a lead by 1-0.

Toze scored in the 69th minute to restore Al Nasr's lead. Sultan Alshamsi equalised with last three minutes . Fawaz Awana scored the winning goal in the second minute of injury time, giving the home side a 3-2 victory.

Bani Yas improved their score to 42 points, two points behind Al Jazira. Al Nasr and remained in fourth position with 36 points.

After a quiet first half, Makhete Diop took advantage of a defensive error and gave Al Dhafra lead in the second minute of stoppage time, giving his side a 1-0 lead at the break. In the early minutes of the second half, Kalba put the pressure on the visitors. It paid off when Romulo Dos Santos tied the score in the 64th minute.

Pedro Conde of Al Dhafra then scored in the 84th minute to give the home side a 2-1 victory. Kalba improved to ninth place with 29 points, while Al Dhafra stayed in tenth place with 20 points. Igor Coronado scored a hat-trick to lead Sharjah to a 5-1 home victory over Khorfakkan.

They got off to a fast start, scoring after six minutes when Coronado scored with a spectacular free-kick from the edge of the box. Following an inch-perfect through pass from Caio Lucas.The Brazilian forward doubled Sharjah's lead in the 17th minute.

Sharjah took a 3-0 lead, thanks to Waleed Sirag. Coronado scored his third goal of the night from the penalty spot two minutes before halftime, ensuring Sharjah's three-point victory.

Ramon Lopes reduced the deficit with less than 20 minutes to go. However, it was too late as, Coronado made it 5-1 in the 83rd minute. Sharjah was in 2nd place with 40 points. Khorfakkan, meanwhile, remained in 11th position with 18 points.

In the 39th minute, Fujairah's Tunisian forward Mohamed Firas Firas Ben Larbi tapped home from close range to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage. When defender Hueglo Neris was sent off in 69th minute, Al Wasl was forced to play the remaining game with ten players, leaving the home side with an uphill challenge. In third minute of injury time, Al Wasl made a late comeback. Fabio Lima converted a penalty to tie the game.

Al Wasl's undefeated streak against Fujairah now stands at eight games (6 wins - two draws). The visitors moved up to seventh place with 30 points, while Fujairah remained in 13th place with 11 points after failing to capitalize on Ajman's draw earlier in the day.
